What kind of church is this?

We believe the Bible.  Period.  We believe God inspired the writing of it, so therefore, if the Bible says it, we believe it.

What kind of people go to this church?

Families, couples, singles, young people, old people, children, and the occasional dog may wander in.  Everyone is welcome here.

Do you have customer service?

Of course! That is the whole reason we are here - to serve you.  In fact, we won't limit ourselves to only our customers, we will help anyone.  We are available 24/7/365.

What do you believe about who God is, and about who Jesus is?

We believe that there is only one God, who, as described in II Corinthians 13:14, is eternally existing in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.  We believe that God the Son is manifest as Jesus Christ, who was born of a virgin and lead a sinless life.  We believe in His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death, His physical-bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of God the Father, and in His personal future return to this earth in power and glory, to rule a thousand years.  Our beliefs are in accord with Scripture that address these issues in detail, in Matthew 4:23, Ephesians 1:17-23, and Matthew 1:23.

What do you believe about the Bible as being the Word of God?

We believe that the Bible is the divinely inspired and only infallible authoritative written word of God.  We believe this based on what the Apostle Paul wrote in 2 Timothy 3:16-17.

What do you believe about the origin of sin and about how to be forgiven?

Based on Romans 5:8, we believe that man was created in the image of God, but that through Adam’s sin, all of mankind fell from right standing with God.  Further, we understand and believe that the only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the precious blood of Christ, and that regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential for personal salvation.  This belief is founded from Scripture in John 3:3-16, Ephesians 2:8, and I John 6:1.

Importantly, we also believe that, as Hebrews 6:1 teaches, it is the will of God that we be sanctified daily, growing constantly in the faith.

What about Baptism?

We believe in both baptism by immersion (Water Baptism) and in Baptism of the Holy Spirit.  The purpose of Water Baptism is to serve as an outward sign of an inward work, based on Jesus’ instructions in Matthew 28:19.  The role and purpose of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is to imbue the Believer with power, and that His incoming is after the same manner, as stated in Acts 2:4.

What do you believe about healing?

At Calvary Stanford, we whole-heartedly believe in healing and so we take every opportunity to pray for those who need it!  As James 5:14-16 states, there is found in Christ healing for the broken--physically, spiritually and emotionally through the prayer of faith.

What else should I know?

It is important to us to regularly unite together in fellowship as we are instructed in Hebrews 10:25 to do, in order that we would encourage each other in the Lord.

It is also important to us to love one another with grace, kindness and mercy.  For as it says in both James 2:13 and Matthew 9:13, “mercy triumphs over judgment.”

All are welcome as friends and family here at Calvary Stanford.
